Denying Refugee Claimants Social Assistance Rolled into Budget Bill

Health for All, along with the Income Security Advocacy Centre and other partners have been working to build a grassroots movement against Bill C-585, a private member’s bill which sought to deny refugee claimants social assistance. Due to the mobilization and pressure on MP Corneliu Chisu who brought forth the original bill, the Conservative government has now included this provision in their budget bill. As a result, we are bringing together organizations to sign an open letter to Finance Minister Joe Oliver to have this provision removed from the budget bill. Please contact us at healthforalltoronto@gmail.com if you want your name added to the letter.
